Hume Vineyards Virginia Wines

WINES

Would you believe that we’re all about small, hand-crafted lots, controlling yields, that we feel that wine is made in the vineyard, that we’re obsessed with quality, that we only use sustainable practices, and that our winemaking philosophy is non-interventionist and minimalist? Well, actually, it’s all true, but it sounds a little trite and self-serving. All we’re really trying to do is make delicious wines that you can enjoy in good company.

2009
Vidal Blanc
A crisp, dry-style Vidal with just a hint of sweetness. Featuring pineapple, kiwi, apricot, and tropical fruit aromas.  Good balance with a nice, long finish.  Perfect by itself on hot summer days, or as an accompaniment to sharp cheeses, cold cuts, and fruity desserts. 1% residual sugar.

2009
Chambourcin
A vibrant, firm, intense Chambourcin exploding with spicy plum, and layered with dried currant, black pepper, and licorice.  This one could fool you into thinking it's a Syrah.  We at Hume Vineyards are great champions of the Chambourcin grape.  Pairs well with grilled steaks, spicy sausage, and barbecued dishes.

2008
Detour
A tight and austere youngster with fresh cut grass, tobacco leaf, and mineral giving way to subtle oak and cedar notes.  Tannic with a chewy finish, this one will only improve with age.  Best decanted.  85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot.

2008
Cabernet Sauvignon
Loaded with roasted coffee, leather, vanilla bean, and bacon, this one's got more flavors than a big city Starbucks during the morning rush hour.  Well structured with good balance and a savory finish.  A great food wine.  95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc.
